StarNewsOnline.com: The Voice of Southeastern North Carolina:
"In northern New Hanover County, keeping up with an exploding population has officials seeking ways to supplement the water they get from the Castle Hayne and Pee Dee aquifers.
“The county is developing a well field in the northern part of the county, and we are looking into building a treatment plant up there, too,” said Mark Boyer, public information officer for New Hanover County.
Although the Castle Hayne aquifer shares the same name as a New Hanover County community, it actually extends from New Jersey southward to southeastern North Carolina. The Pee Dee aquifer is under the Castle Hayne aquifer and spreads from southeastern Virginia to the North Carolina-South Carolina border, according to the U.S. Geological Survey."
