Rezoning Rejected

Star News article: "The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners on Monday unanimously rejected two rezoning requests that would have allowed a massive medical and retail complex just north of Porters Neck.

The project has been mired in controversy for months, with nearby residents concerned about traffic, building size and lighting, and environmentalists worried about the impact on Foy and Futch creeks.

Commissioners expressed some of the same concerns but seemed more worried about whether plans for a public hospital on the site would ever come to fruition."

I still think this will happen, but the SENCA group will need to get the full backing of the hospital first.

SENCA is taking this back to the NHC Board.

NOTICE OF MEETING

SENCA Properties has re-submitted its 2005 rezoning proposal to the New Hanover County Commissioners. The plan, involving property located on Highway 17 just south of Scotts Hill Loop Road, proposes zoning 26 acres to be sold to New Hanover Regional Medical Center and 19 acres to become a medical office park with complementary retail and restaurant uses.

SENCA invites you to a community presentation at 7:00pm on Thursday October 26th at the Scotts Hill Baptist Church's Family Life Center behind the sanctuary.
